Is it Time for a Magic Mushroom Chocolate Bar?

Is it Time for a Magic Mushroom Chocolate Bar?

It was bound to happen. Heck, a world that loves sweets as much as ours would make sure of that. After all, a sweet tooth needs to be fed. And if those sweet teeth happen to have progressive ideas about nature and spirituality, well, watch out! Because that’s a world ripe for alternative forms of treatment, as well as adventure; a world made perfect for the magic mushroom chocolate bar.

The question is: Are we ready?

Actually, if Heather Tal Murphy’s Slate piece is any indication, the psilocybin chocolate bar question has been asked already. It’s also already been answered. And, as you probably suspect, it was answered in the affirmative.

A most affirming affirmative, especially for those hitting The Rockhouse Hotel & Spa. And that, writes Tal Murphy, continues to include some of the world’s most bold-faced names.

“A dramatically set clifftop resort in Negril, Jamaica,” writes Tal Murphy, the Rockhouse “is known for maintaining its allure among celebrities. Bob Marley and Bob Dylan once hung out there. More recently, Meghan Markle called it her favorite place to chill and Bella Hadid credited it with reminding her how beautiful life is.”

But, continues Tal Murphy, the Rockhouse has another, even more progressive feather extending from its bejeweled cap: “will openly, legally sell you a magic mushroom chocolate bar.”

That’s right. For the past two years, the Rockhouse gift shop has been selling magic mushroom chocolate bars among its trinkets and baubles. In fact, reads the Salon piece, when the gift shop first added the candy bars to its inventory back in June of 2021, “it became one of the first stores that is not a drug dispensary to openly and officially sell a product containing psilocybin anywhere in the world.”

That, friends, is saying something.

The Magic Mushroom Chocolate Bar

Just what is a magic mushroom chocolate bar anyway? Well, it’s pretty much just what you’d expect, only, er, cuter. Yep, for some reason the companies that seem to dominate the magic mushroom chocolate bar field seem to believe cute is a thing. Consequently, most of the products include some variety of “shroom” in their names.

It can be a bit much (as in the “Funguyz” company, which tries to cute up the word fungus). It can also take any seriousness out of the equation. And that can be a big mistake. After all, the magic mushroom candy bar might sound like an innocuous product, but it’s really not. It’s still psilocybin. And psilocybin is a psychoactive compound with all kinds of special powers.

Psilocybin’s Special Powers

It is, of course, those special powers that bring us here today. Let’s let Wiki properly define psilocybin for us:

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic prodrug compound produced by more than 200 species of fungi. Psilocybin is itself biologically inactive but is quickly converted by the body to psilocin, which has mind-altering effects similar, in some aspects, to those of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), mescaline, and dimethyltryptamine (DMT). In general, the effects include euphoria, visual and mental hallucinations, changes in perception, distorted sense of time, and perceived spiritual experiences. It can also cause adverse reactions such as nausea and panic attacks.

Got it? Good. Because there’s a lot there. Keep reading the incredibly edifying Wiki entry and you’ll discover that human psilocybin mushroom use actually predates history, and that the Spanish stumbled upon record of its ceremonial use when they invaded Mesoamerica. You’ll also learn that Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman first isolated psilocybin for our Western use back in 1958, and that he even had established a worldwide network of clinicians who were using the compound to treat various maladies.

Unfortunately, political blowback in the ‘60s and ‘70s put an end to that kind of enlightened expansion, and while magic mushrooms did continue to be used as a “spirituality-enhancing agent” from the ‘70s on, it no longer had the backing of universities and/or multinational drug companies.

In fact, “psilocybin was classified as a Schedule I controlled substance by the United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances” in 1971. That means, possession of psilocybin-containing mushrooms has been outlawed in most countries ever since.

The effects of psilocybin are of course “highly variable and depend on the mindset and environment in which the user has the experience. Researchers commonly call those factors set and setting, and they’re as concerned with where the drug is taken as they are with who happens to be doing the taking. Yes, they include everything from temporary euphoria (for the microdoser) to a compete mental reset (for the over-does-it type). In other words, there are far too many maybes for us to start exploring here.

The Psilocybin Chocolate Bar

Back to defining the magic mushroom chocolate bar… According to the Funguys site, the magic mushroom chocolate bar is like the most joyful antidepressant that ever existed. It’s apparently expedient too. Heck, if psilocybin chocolate bars can do even half of what the Funguyz site claims, they can pretty much do everything.

Here’s a sample:

Magic mushrooms, known for their psychoactive compound psilocybin, offer a range of potential health benefits. These fungi have been revered for their transformative properties, from enhancing creativity and reducing anxiety to promoting self-reflection and spiritual experiences.

On the other hand, chocolate is not only a beloved treat but also possesses its own array of positive effects. Rich in antioxidants, it can:

  • Boost mood
  • Improve cognitive function
  • Provide a general sense of well-being

The mix of chocolate and magic mushrooms in Funguyz bars creates a perfect balance, enhancing the overall experience.

It gets better. Really. Especially considering Funguyz show they’re serious about science and research. To wit:

As the interest in psychedelics grows, so does the scientific research surrounding their potential benefits. To stay informed and up-to-date, it is essential to refer to trustworthy sources, such as Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), a leading nonprofit research and educational organization. This resource suggests that magic mushrooms could cure depression and other mental disorders. Here are other psilocybin chocolate bars advantages:

Controlled Dosing

Each magic chocolate bar contains a thoroughly measured dosage of magic mushrooms. This ensures users have a predictable and controlled psychedelic experience, allowing them to tailor the dosage according to their preferences and tolerance levels.

Long-lasting Effects

When consumed in chocolate form, magic mushrooms may have a slower onset but longer-lasting effects than other consumption methods. This extended duration allows individuals to explore their consciousness more profoundly and immerse themselves in a transformative journey. The preferred chocolate flavour doesn’t affect psilocybin effects. However, freeing your schedule to enjoy their taste calmly and hassle-free is crucial.

And No, Healing Properties isn’t getting a cut of Funguyz’ magic mushroom chocolate bar sales. In fact, we don’t take kickbacks from anyone, ever. Never have. Never will. Heck, our only position on psilocybin is that you should be informed.

Be informed. And stay informed. There’s undoubtedly some reason why our ancient ancestors turned to the magic mushroom. There’s also an obvious reason why parameter-expanding scientists like Albert Hoffman looked into psilocybin’s propensity to open our minds. It’s up to you whether or not to explore the possibilities.

It’s also up to you to answer the question:

Are we ready for the magic mushroom chocolate bar?

Ancient Astronaut theorists would undoubtedly say “Yes!”

If you or someone you know is experience substance abuse issues, please give us a ring. Healing Properties has been helping men find true and lasting sobriety since 2002. We’d be honored to help you too.
