We asked AI to Plug the Best Sober Home – Here’s What We Got

With the whole wild world going nuts about AI, we thought it wise to try it on for size. Could we really AI Best Sober Home copy? If so, how long would it take and how would it read? Could AI toll the final bell for writers? We chose Google’s Bard rather than ChatGPT because we’re Chromeos from way back. Besides, we’d been invited to beta test the new program.

Our instructions were simple: “750 words on best men’s sober home”. Bard’s response came back within milliseconds of launching the query. Then again, it is Google. And Google doesn’t waste any time. It doesn’t limit itself to one reply either. So we received multiple responses within those milliseconds.

Of course, fast doesn’t necessarily mean good. In fact, the fastest quite often comes up short. Especially via-a-vis the written word, which requires more than mere knowing. Oh, the Bard copy was certainly serviceable. It probably checked all the Search Engine boxes too. But to us it lacked a certain finesse.
